The bell tower of the Clérigos Church is a Baroque masterpiece, built between 1754 and 1763 under the direction of the celebrated Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni.
Standing 76 m (249 ft) tall, it was for a long time one of the highest towers in Portugal. In fact, the Clérigos bell tower served for decades as a visual landmark and land beacon for vessels sailing up the Douro toward the river port.
It's no coincidence, then, that the tower sits on one of the highest points in Porto.
What Does the Ticket Include?

- Museum of the Brotherhood of Clérigos: housed in the former brotherhood building, its collection includes numerous works of sacred art, paintings, sculptures, silverware, liturgical ornaments, and historical documents.
- Spiral staircase: its 240 stone steps will take you up to the tower's viewpoint. On the way up, you'll see an impressive carillon of 49 bells.
- Tower viewpoint: the most anticipated part of the visit. Beautiful panoramic views over Porto await!

From the viewpoint at the very top of the Clérigos Tower, you'll be able to take in the following Porto landmarks:
- The Sé: Porto's cathedral.
- São Bento train station.
- Avenida dos Aliados and the Town Hall.
- The Douro River and the Dom Luís I Bridge.
- The wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia on the opposite bank.
- Foz do Douro and the Atlantic Ocean: on clear days, you can make out exactly where the Douro meets the sea.
